Let’s conquer Tumbledown Mountain! Mara Kavanaugh, a Maine native and avid hiker, will lead us to the summit for spectacular views of the Western Mountains Region. This hike features three peaks, 700-foot cliffs, and a mountain pond. Enjoy springtime and socializing (at a safe distance) with like-minded people as you check-off one of Maine’s most well-known peaks!
The Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program (SAORP) will be meeting at the Main Street Skowhegan (MSS) Office at 8 a.m. If you don’t have your own transportation, let us know ahead of time by sending an email to email@example.com. If you’d like to meet us at the trailhead, follow this link for directions: https://www.mainetrailfinder.com/trails/trail/tumbledown-mountain-and-little-jackson. The hike will start at 10 a.m. at Loop Trailhead, the westernmost trailhead. The hike will be over five miles. It is rated as advanced/difficult. Ladders are present so dogs are not recommended. Please bring water, lunch, and plenty of snacks. The trail may be icy–be prepared by bringing spikes, snowshoes, or some type of traction device. If you need to borrow snowshoes from our gear library, fill out this form: https://forms.gle/Eq3y8rM4LnEFzLhHA.
